Ballaugh
In the name of God Amen the last will and testament of Mary Myllerea als Hughes being of a perfect mind and memory at the making thereof.

First I commit my soul to God and my body to Christian burial.

Secondly I leave and bequeath unto my daughter Margrett Bannon als Myllerea whole and sole heir and executrix of all my goods and effects moveable and immoveable of whatsoever kind and nature they may be to be enjoyed by her as her right and property and I debar and exclude any other person or persons who will sue to the contrary hereof with five shillings legacy.

In testimony hereof I hereunto subscribe my name or mark as my last will and testament this the 12th day of May 1843.

At a Chapter Court holden at Kirk Michael 15th June 1843 Daniel Bannon husband of Margaret Bannon the executrix named in the beforegoing will is sworn executor in Court in form of law and hath given pledges for the payment of debts and legacies namely Robert Kaighin and William Corlett, both of Ballamoar in the parish of Jurby

NOTES

  1. Mary was the wife of Daniel Mylrea, second son of John Mylrea and Jane als Clark. Daniel's older brother John took over the Ballacooiley estate on his father's death
  2. Mary & Daniel had 8 children all born in Ballaugh: Jane (1789), John (1791), Elinor (1793), Mary (1796), Dan (1799), Elizabeth (1802), Ann (1805), Margaret (abt 1807)
  3. 7 survived: John married Isabella Quayle, Elinor married Henry Lord, Dan married Mary Stephenson, Elizabeth married John Kneen, Margaret married Daniel Bannon
  4. No information on remaining three daughters (Jane - did she have illegitimate child Elizabeth in German?), Mary or Ann
  5. Mary's husband Daniel died 1830, her son Daniel died in 1839 in Douglas where he was an innkeeper, and daughter Margaret (Bannon) died in 1845
  6. Daniel Mylrea and Mary als Hughes are both buried in Ballaugh even though they probably died in Jurby
